A brand new fox base model for VRChat! Cute; part dog; part cat; part gremlin.

Overview

This is my first publicly available base, the Foxipso Base! I've sculpted, retopo'd, textured, re-textured, re-sculpted, and re-retopo'd this model over hundreds and hundreds of hours in an attempt to create a quintessential anthro fox. I'm now pleased to say it captures that unique foxy energy: part dog, part cat, and part gremlin. It also excels when used with partial or full face tracking using VRCFT.

My fox has no backstory or lore. Nothing deep or alien or magical. It's your totally standard, run-of-the-mill, dime-a-dozen fox, exactly how I want it. Completely cute, fluffy, and charming.

It's also extremely customizable and is cute as a raccoon and red panda (both textures included), as well as a female version for all of those ("vixen" shapekey/blendshape). The ears can be extended to become a fennec, or shortened to look more like a raccoon, red panda, etc. It has full VRCFT support, MMD support, expressions, pudge slider, and overall 199 shapekeys. I wrote two custom shaders for PC, eye glint and a scrolling collar. The former is especially cool: it makes your irises gleam with an iridescent color when a realtime light is lined up between your eyes and the viewer's.

2 Custom shaders, written from scratch:

• Eye Glint: Also known as the red-eye effect or tapetum lucidum, it's the retroreflective effect you see in animals when they look at you with a bright line in your line of sight. Your fox eyes will appear normal and emissive (if configured), but whenever there's a realtime light in a scene your irises will appear to luminesce with a brilliant color of your choosing! The effect is non-uniform, changes as your eyes move relative to each viewer, and reflects with a pleasing dynamic gradient. • Collar: A simple emissive scrolling shader. You can replace the texture with any text you want and it'll scroll (though be sure to vertically line it up so it wraps nicely). See "Videos/foxipso base collar.mp4"

Installation:

Installation is easy and just involves dragging in the unitypackage.

You can watch the included "./Installation Video.mp4" (the video shows dragging in the assets, and has no audio) or followed the steps in the README.txt.

• Upload the avatar to VRChat or other social VR platforms
• Modify the avatar, or pay others to modify your copy (provided the commissioner doesn't keep it or redistribute it)
• If you make a public version, I request you keep the face tracking support intact and link back to this Gumroad page, though these are not requirements.

You may not:

• Resell the avatar or any included assets
• Distribute the avatar or included assets on any platform
• Claim ownership of the avatar base or included assets
